National Agenda student receives award

UD recognizes African American and Latino students

MAY 15, 2018″University of Delaware junior Andrew Joseph was among the students honored on Thursday, April 26, at the Students of Distinction dinner, hosted by the University of Delaware Vice Provost for Diversity. The event recognized African American and Latino students and focused on the important role that mentors play in ensuring the success of students. Lindsay Hoffman, Associate Director of the Center for Political Communication and Associate Professor of Communication, accompanied Joseph to the dinner and recognition ceremony.

“Receiving the Students of Distinction award was an amazing honor and experience. As one of the select Latinos on campus, It was such a humbling surprise to be recognized for my work while taking pride in where I’m from,” said Joseph, a political science major with minors in Latin American and Iberia studies, political communication, and Spanish.

“I nominated Andrew because he demonstrated maturity, curiosity, and intellectual ability during the National Agenda class and in my Media and Politics class,” said Hoffman. “His background is very important in his identity, and I’m so pleased that he was awarded this honor.”
