Professor Ed Freel

Ed Freel (AS ’73, MEd ’75), now retired, was an instructor for the Joseph R. Biden, Jr., School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware. He is a member of the Center for Political Communication Advisory Council. Freel served as Senior Advisor to his fellow University of Delaware alumnus, U.S. Senator Thomas Carper (MBA ’75). Prior to that he served as Secretary of State for the state of Delaware from 1994 to 2001. He served as Chief of Staff during Thomas Carper’s tenure as governor of Delaware in 1993 to 1994, and Chief of Staff during Senator Carper’s tenure as U.S. Representative of Delaware in 1983 to 1991.

Ed Freel has won numerous awards from the Delaware Maritime Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Gannon University, and Federal Department of Health & Human Services.
